Kayaking in NYC

This past weekend was such an eventful one full of summer activities and friends' birthdays!

Today is my boyfriend (Andres)'s birthday -- and this past Saturday I took him kayaking at Pier 66 here in NYC. It's with the Manhattan Kayak Company and they offer various groups - based on experience, length of time, etc. I made a reservation for "Fun In the Sun", which was for beginners, lasting about an hour or two.

We never went kayaking before, but we had an amazing experience! We requested a two-person kayak, which was a bit difficult getting started (we were the slowpokes of the group), but after awhile we got the hang of it and then we were waiting for others to catch up.

If there wasn't a risk of getting wet, I would have taken photos of the beautiful views from the water -- we paddled south and we could see the Statue of Liberty from afar. The weather was absolutely amazing and it was all worth feeling sore the next morning.

Yesterday, I celebrated my friend Freida's birthday at her house with an intimate barbeque with family and close friends. Her family fed us so much, I'm still feeling full -- we enjoyed beef kebabs, salads, fruit, bread, drinks, nuts, tea, and cake. Oh yes, and candy (with all the kids running around).

Tonight, we're celebrating Andres's birthday again with his family. Whew! Definitely look forward to relaxing tomorrow :)

How was your weekend?

Inspirational Tuesdays #114

Today is my birthday so here is a bunch of images that will summarize my birthday week! (Relaxing, celebrating, dolling up, food & cocktails at a Hawaiian bar/restaurant, finally ending classes -- okay let's face it, I pretty much have Hawaii on my mind) :)

Update

Helloooo there! :) I know that I have been MIA lately from blogs, updates, Twitter and such. Instagram is probably the only outlet that I have been frequently posting on. What have I been up to? For my last semester in college, we were required to do a full time internship for our senior co-op, and I chose to do it at Ann Taylor within the Public Relations department. My last day was this past Thursday -- but they have recently offered me a temp job for the next two weeks so I will be back in the office until then!

My last week of classes will be this upcoming Friday -- been preparing for final presentations and case studies. Can't wait for my graduation (May 31!), though I haven't planned my outfit yet, haha. Also, I FINALLY took my senior portraits which I've been putting off since last semester and picked up my cap, gown & tickets the same day. Aaaand my birthday is this Tuesday so I have definitely planned some festivities this week :)

I also extended my SneakPeeq giveaway for another week!

What have you all been up to? Catch me up while I visit all of your blogs today!

Hope you and/or mothers have an amazing Mother's Day!! :)

Belated Bday at Dos Caminos

Yesterday, I celebrated my belated birthday (my birthday was last Sunday) with the girls! We decided to have brunch at Dos Caminos - amazing food & friendly staff. We started off with tortilla chips + guacamole and salsas (spicy, medium, mild) and paired it with the complimentary prickly pear margaritas. I personally didn't like it & gave mine to two of my other friends to split. We were seated outdoors & the weather was absolutely beautiful while we were there.

Then came out our entrees. I had the breakfast quesadilla with a side of fresh fruit. Sooo good! They really do give you a large portion so I ended up finishing the fruit and half of my entree; I took the rest to go.
After, we decided to check out the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was a LONG line just to check out that one exhibit - it was a 45 minute wait for us. However, I thought it was spectacular! We walked through several collections & themes - my favorites were the one inspired by Tim Burton which mixed darkness and romanticism, and the one inspired by the British anarchy. There was just something so edgy yet, for a lack of a better term, romantic about the looks. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take photos since they were prohibited but if you're in the New York area, it's definitely worth the visit (just try not to go on the weekend - crowds are crazy)!
Then, we went to the rooftop. The Met usually has pieces of art or sculptures on the roof & they change it every so often so we decided to see what they had to showcase now. To be honest, it wasn't that interesting. Compared to past displays, this wasn't as great. However, the rooftop is one of my favorite views of the city. Above is a photo of all of us. I wish I brought my sunglasses! I'm the only one who forgot them at home, haha, but I still love that pic.

So the world didn't end like some people believed, but my world surely stopped for a bit yesterday. I realized when I got home that my wallet was missing! Luckily, nothing valuable or important were in it -- it was new though. I just switched things from my old wallet to my new wallet yesterday morning so it didn't have much in it. (So I'm pretty much more upset that I didn't get more use out of my new wallet lol). I only remember taking it out once, but I know I put it back in. I didn't need to use it throughout the rest of the day so I didn't realize until I was at home. Fortunately, I was able to cancel my credit cards & replace my ID and that no one has attempted to use my cards. I have a feeling it either fell out of my bag or someone just took it; I was in so many crowded/packed places that day, it could have been anything.

So, tell me, how's your weekend going? What were you doing around the predicted time of the end of the world? lol

It's my 21st Birthday!

Guess what...
Haha! I thought that picture was adorable. I'm going to celebrate with some girls next Saturday. However, I'm celebrating with my family tonight, but my amazing boyfriend took me out last night. :) Well technically, just a bunch of hours ago, haha.

He took me into Hoboken, New Jersey right by the Hudson River - what an incredible view! We ate at The Melting Pot. It was my first time having fondue! We had the Big Night Out 4 Course Dinner. We started with the Fiesta Cheese Fondue which includes cheddar cheese with lager beer, jalapeƱo peppers and salsa. I thought it had a sweet aftertaste; it was really good. We ate it with tortilla chips, bread, vegetables, and apples. For our entrees, we had the Mojo style brew & ate bits of sirloin steak, chicken, shrimp, beef, ravioli, potatoes, and vegetables. It came with a variety of dipping sauces; I personally liked the one that tasted like Sweet n Sour sauce - but I'm not sure exactly what was in it. For our dessert, we had the Chocolate Dulce de Leche fondue and it came with strawberries, bananas, marshmellows, rice krispies, brownies, and a cute little slice of cheesecake. They added a candle since we were there celebrating my birthday :)Oh yeah, how could I forget the drinks?? I started on the non-alcoholic version of one drink, I totally don't remember what it was called but it had mango and another fruit in it. Then, since after all I was turning 21, I also ordered the Birthday Cake martini! It included Stoli vanilla vodka with pina colada and strawberry something. It really did taste like a birthday cake, and I'm usually not a fan of things too sweet, but it was really good!
