Twin suns of Tatooine

Here's my new fantastic find: Jeremy Messersmith... and here's one of his songs, called Tatooine, with a great video from animator/filmmaker Eric Power . The song talks about this planet...

'There's room up there for second chances
Singles are fine but doubles are fantastic
I'd like to think that there's a star for me and you
Spinning round, falling for one another'

Check up both artists' websites. Eric Power does some beautiful paper animations and Jeremy has more great great songs and videos that you can download on a very friendly pay-whatever-you-want policy. Sweeeet!

Killola is three boys and one girl, making rock music out of Los Angeles, California. The band’s style of garage pop (often described as ‘Blondie for the 21st Century’) has received more than 1.5 million MySpace plays from over 80,000 friends.
Oh, and their latest album is available for free download. Viva la independencia!

Marion Cotillard is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

*

She is such a great mix of strength and vulnerability...she's so beautiful and she's French! who could ask for more? :D
She's the best thing about the whole 'Nine' movie. I love this song.
And I can't talk about Marion Cotillard without thinking of my favourite Oscar moment, and if this doesn't move you, I don't know what will. Here's the link:

say the word

*

It's so beautiful when people are so in love they want the whole world to know... and it's all they think about and want to write it on walls if possible.
I gathered these pics from all around the internet... it's such a wonderful thing when you find people from all over the world and all different backgrounds having the same idea. It just comes natural and shows that we're human and we're working the same way - like thinking about love and photographing the word :)
Anyway... these pics have a happy vibe and I think we need all the positive thoughts we can get!

je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais...

*

I'm looking forward to seeing this film - 'Serge Gainsbourg (vie heroique)'. His music is legendary and so is his wild lifestyle. I want to get swept away for two hours in the world of this french controversial genius with a drinking problem and gorgeous lovers... great music and great style... sounds promising. I am always interested in biographies of artists...

His music was always progressive and raised questions with its often double meanings and sexual content. He even got some death threats and the Vatican cited his song 'je t'aime...moi non plus' as offensive.

Considered one of the ugliest men in French music, he had some of the most beautiful women of the time : Brigitte Bardot, Juliette Greco, Jane Birkin. And his unusual features inspired this blog Draw Serge! which is a place where lots of illustrators, more or less famous, post portraits of the great Gainsbourg. Have a go at your own version of Serge!

and I leave you with one of my favourite songs from him...

girl power :D

first of all let me express my full disapproval of any kind of girls gatherings...I mean unless they're lesbians nothing interesting really happens...if you're stuck with a bunch of nice good girls you just end up listening to endless conversations about cats, the best moisturizer, and romance movies...
I have no idea how girls in girl bands get along ...I always thought to much estrogen leads to hysterical arguments ...

Having said that... I must admit there are some exceptions to my general opinion, so let me introduce you to some of my favourite all-girl songs:

littlest birds have the prettiest songs...The be Good Tanyas

'well it's times like this i feel so small and wild
like the ramblin' footsteps of a wanderin' child'

maria taylor - time lapse lifeline - the video is really nice :D

'Oh we dreamed a life
It was just like that, was like that
And just like that, and just like that it's done'

ok..the next one here is a bit of a guilty pleasure.... I think I like it mostly because of the video and the sexy pin-up style lingerie... but it's a nice song :P
the saturdays - I just can't get enough

Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?

I just found this video of zooey deschanel and joseph gordon-levitt... just like the film -500days of summer- the video is a visual feast. And I love the she&him songs. I am really curious if there is anybody that doesn't like zooey deschanel...she's so pretty and smart and funny, it's hard not to like her... about joseph gordon-levitt I was initially really skeptical - I didn't think he will evolve much from the '3rd rock from the sun', but he surprised me. and I think he looks a little like heath ledger which is always a plus :P. I am actually looking forward to seeing one of his films - 'mysterious skin' (2004).

scrape the clay off my shoes

*

The moon is in the gutter
And the stars wash down the sink
I am the king of the blues
I scrape the clay off my shoes
And wade down the gutter and the moon
The moon blinds my eye with opal cataracts
As I cut through the saw-mills and the stacks,
Leaping over the gully where I would one day take Lucy
Then wash up my hands in the gutter and the moon.
Such a long way from home, just me and
The moon is in the gutter
All my plans are flushed down the drain
I wander lonely as a cloud
Over memories at her mound
Then lie down in the bitter gutter moon.

club A

*

Don't you know that you're nothin' more than a one night stand?
Tomorrow I'll be on my way, you can catch me if you can...
Honey, take me by the hand and play that game again...
