Grammys Red Carpet 2012

Most of you might have watch the Grammy Red Carpet, and there was a lot of lace/embroidery, sequins/sparkle, and sexy cutouts. My favorite of the night was Carrie Underwood in Gomez-Garcia. Absolutely stunning -- she just looks flawless!
My other faves of the night are:
Adele in Giorgio Armani
Corinne Bailey Rae in Christian Siriano
Paris Hilton in Basil Soda
Iffy about Fergie: I really like the bright orange & the silhouette of the dress, but I don't like how it's see through all over & the black undergarments. Black and orange just says Halloween to me.
Katy Perry in Elie Saab. One of my favorite designers, but I don't like the matchy matchy hair.
Worst dressed for me? Nicki Minaj showing up with a Pope -- too reminiscent of Lady Gaga
And Sasha Gradiva -- what is with that gun arm piece?
Who were your fave & least fave looks?

Betsey Johnson S/S 2012 Collection

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Betsey Johnson show. Some celebrities spotted at the show were Nicki Minaj, Nigel Barker, and Angela Simmons.
Betsey injected a burst of fresh energy into her collection blending modern elements with her signature vintage-inspired style and aesthetic. Her daughter, Lulu, returned to the runway after 10 years & opened the show with her vivacious personality.
Inspired by Brigitte Bardot and the Burlesque dancers of the 40s, Betsey tip toes between innocent and sexy by taking flirty silk pieces and contrasting them against vibrant patterns with peek-a-boo surprises. Maintaining her admiration of the female form, the designer uses pops of her famed girly prints & shapes, and infuses them with bold designs and alluring color, creating an elevated and evolved collection that is both classic & innovative.
Crystal adorned pieces mix with luxe leather detailing while architectural styles blend with draped silhouettes to create a range that adds an edge to the iconic Betsey look. Rounding out the collection are brushed metal accents comprised of namesake-etched jewelry alongside corseted and embellished shoes. The result is a collection that blends hints of masculine strength with feminine sensitivity creating a line that is playful and sophisticated.
Some say the collection was over the top & bordered the line of costumery. While a few pieces may be so, overall the collection was very Betsey. It was lively, fun, wild, and flirty. The energy of the models, music, and crowd made it the best & most entertaining show I've attended during New York S/S 2012 Fashion Week. Now, isn't that what a fashion show should be like?

Additionally, I love the Stila long lasting lip color in the gift bag - been wearing it since! It was the same hot pink color the models rocked on the runway. Other goodies included: a sample of Betsey's Too Too fragrance, Too Too, RedKen texturing cream wax, Stila eyeliner, Green&Black's chocolate, and a Betsey Johnson pink hair extension!

VMAs 2011

Louise Roe

The Video Music Awards aired on MTV last night. As for the fashion, I can't really say there was anything outstanding for me. I had a couple of favorites like Louise Roe - her outfit was a little too daytime for event, but I still like the dress; Kelly Rowland's dress actually seemed normal and not outrageous; I can't believe I'm saying this but I thought Snooki's look was cute - the overall look fits her personality well.

Worst dressed? My pick is Nicki Minaj. I respect her as an artist but this outfit is just crazy!

As for the show, there have been a couple of main topics that people have been buzzing about.

First up - Beyonce announced she was pregnant on the red carpet. Congrats, mama-to-be! And Lady Gaga introduced us to her alter ego, Joe Calderone. To be honest, it became a little creepy (especially when she introduced Britney).

Adele was totally robbed from winning those awards, and Tyler, the Creator won best new artist. I must be getting old, because I have no idea who he is.

And the Britney tribute?! It was so short and awkward - definitely overpowered by Lady Gaga + Beyonce. The little girls who danced & dressed as Britney was somewhat inappropriate but kinda adorable. At least the Amy Winehouse tribute was a lot better (probably my favorite part of the night).

What did you all think about MTV VMA's?
