Mario Tricoci Rewards Massage Guests With New Membership Program

MARIOplus Offers Savings on Every Massage, Every Time

Massage lovers can enjoy the benefits of membership at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas. Guests can enroll in MARIOplus for just $50 to receive $25 off every full service massage of 50 minutes or longer duration for 12 months. The program includes all massages from a classic Swedish to the more advanced Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, 80 Minute Therapeutic or even the popular Bamboo Fusion. The only service not included is the shorter duration “Good To Go” Massage, which targets only neck and shoulders for 25 minutes.

“Many of our massage guests have purchased a series of massages to enjoy savings on multiple services, but they were limited to one type of massage when purchased in a series,” said Cassandra Stratton, body director for Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas. “With the new MARIOplus membership program, guests may pick and choose from our full menu of massage services. After just two massages, the program has paid for itself with the savings.”

The health benefits of regular massage are widely known including:

Aid in lowering heart rate

Decrease respiratory rates

Prevent future stress-related illness including heart disease, diabetes and depression

Increase endorphins

Aid in weight loss

With a MARIOplus membership, guests enjoy $25 off of unlimited massages for one year. Membership is activated immediately upon enrollment, allowing guests to take advantage of membership pricing even on the day they sign up.

“MARIOplus memberships also make great gifts of wellness for those you love,” Stratton said. “Especially for birthdays or anniversaries as a way to let someone know you are thinking of them all year long.”

How to Choose the Right Massage

Today there are so many massage options available, even devotees may wonder at times if they’ve made the right choice. According to the experts at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas, finding the best match for your health and relaxation needs is easier than you think.

Start with the right therapist. The best therapists know how to work with their guests determine the most effective massage for them. They ask smart questions and really listen, then tailor the experience to help you achieve the results you want. So do your homework. Get recommendations from friends and family. Look at online reviews or read your local newspaper or magazine. The extra time you invest in your search will be well worth it.

Don’t be afraid to share.
To get the most out of a massage, you can’t be shy. Talk to your therapist about your lifestyle and daily routine. For example, do you spend 40 hours a week on your feet or at a desk? Do you have young children or enjoy gardening in your spare time? Do you have allergies or chronic fatigue? Little details such as these will help your therapist target not only your massage, but also recommend extras like aromatherapy. Finally remember that not all therapists have the same kind of training, so if you have a preference regarding technique, speak up.
Ask questions.
Of course, we don’t mean during the service -- that’s you time. But before and after your service are perfect times to get those burning massage questions answered, like “What’s the difference between a Swedish and deep tissue? And would either of those work for me?” While many of these answers are available online or in magazines, nothing beats having a face-to-face conversation with a pro who can give you an answer in the scope of your own massage goals.

GlyMed DermaSound Facial Treatment

I was given the opportunity to try out a new facial treatment now offered at Mario Tricoci. This treatment starts at $185 and takes 75 minutes.
The Glymed DermaSound Facial Treatment uses the power of ultrasound to help products penetrate the skin 10,000 times more deeply than with a manual treatment -- delivering the kind of rejuvenating results once offered only by a medical spa. IMG_1954
IMG_1955 Here's a little about the GlyMed DermaSound Facial:
**Safe for all skin types, guests can chose from two face services
-- the DermaSound Firming and Lifting Treatment and the DermaSound Pigmentation Treatment. Both services use a three-pronged approach to rejuvenate the face:
 · Phase One - Cavitation: cleanses the pores of blackheads, pollutants and make-up debris, and kills bacteria, viruses and microbes. It also provides an extremely thorough, but gentle exfoliation of the skin.
· Phase Two - Sonophoresis: penetrates products 10,000 times deeper into the skin than a manual service. This phase works on a cellular level for more intense, longer lasting benefits.
· Phase Three - Microcurrent: stimulates the musculature of the face and neck, retraining the muscles to regain a more youthful position. Likened to “facial fitness” this phase is extremely firming and tightening.

I chose to get the firming and lifting treatment. IT WAS AMAZING!! I don't think I'll ever be able to get a facial without using the GlyMed DermaSound tool ever again. The results lasts about 45 days and can be seen immediately.
It does not hurt. (I thought it might ;)
It kinda feels like someone is shaving your face. The tool shown above is used a few different time throughout the facial and at the end it is turned down to a pulse mode and is actually very relaxing. Here is my before and shot:
IMG_1960
(Yes, I have very transparent skin and scars on this side of my face from a dog attack, look past that please ;) My skin looks dry, flaky, my color is all off, you can see my lines, and well quite frankly, it looks drab.
Here is my after shot:
IMG_1963
How relaxed do I look! lol My skin looks amazing. My color is more even, my skin looks super hydrated, my smile line crease is not as noticeable, it looks squeaky clean, and best of all my transparent coloring looks less noticeable. UMMM, AMAZING!
The next morning I felt like my skin looks tighter and frankly I feel like a lost a few years off my face! (hello, wonderful!) I will for sure be having this done again in 45 days! You do it a few times (at 5 week intervals) and once your skin gets to where you like it, you can have it done less often.
I am not a girl who likes the thought of needles and plastic surgery, but this is right up my ally! I strongly recommend this treatment to anyone and everyone. I have sensitive skin and my results were wonderful.
Call your local Mario Tricoci for more information on this service.
*Mario Tricoci now also sell GlyMed products (lotions/serums) as well. (they are medical grade and wonderful!!)

New Hair

I decided it was high time for a new look, so for the first time in about a year I went to Mario Ticoci for a cut and color. (I generally get a hair trim every 4 months, but I don't color often). Here are my before shots: Photobucket
I asked for a modern twist on Ombre. I wanted a few shades, not just dark on top and light on bottom. I actually brought this picture with and said "I know I won't look like this (DUH!) but it's a good form of reference of what look I am going for."
Photobucket

After 4 hours, 2 times having it processed, toned, washed and dried I left crying. This is the first time EVER I have been unhappy with Mario Tricoci. They were beyond amazing about it and not only gave me my color for free (which honestly I would have not paid for) but that also competed my hair cut. This is what I had to deal with from Saturday afternoon until Monday when they could fix it:
Photobucket
So yeah, not happy. Yes, that is green your see. And orange, and brush marks that start 2 inches from my roots. Keep in mind, this is the correction of what was first done so you can only imagine my horror when I first looked in the mirror. I do LOVE the cut though. She took 1 inch off the back and put TONS of layers in to make it lighter for me. (It just gets so heavy for my neck!)
I spent 45 mins curling and pinning it back not to look too silly for Easter Sunday and then RAN back to Mario on Monday. After another 2 and 1/2 hours working on me, their head colorist was able to turn it into this:
PhotobucketPhotobucket

As you can see from the last photo I have a few weird blond streaks that were supposed to be toned down at the root, but again after 2 and 1/2 hours I was needed back home. She did want me to stay and fix it more, but I was over it.
It's definitely better then the first round and I am much happier now. I will be going back in a few weeks to do more corrections as there are a few harsh lines and again the top needs toner on it.
As I was leaving I was charged full price for color. I was kinda shocked. I had to tip all 3 who did my hair the day of mess up, tip all 3 the day of fix and full price for color. I guess I should be happy they competed my cut, but I just think if you mess up, you pay not me.
Having said that I still LOVE Mario Tricoci. I am such a fan of their spa and my hair girl is the best and I would never switch on them. The colorist though, I think I will now go to the top girl to fix the last few streaks when my hair has some time to recuperate and then just stick to my regular hair color. You can mess with a lot of things people, but my hair is not one of them! ;) She did do wonders though. It's come a long way since Saturday!
**UPDATE I was called on Thursday and apologized to for a miss charge. She had not read my blog, just was going over books and realized I was charged. I was given a credit for the full amount and plan to go get a massage in the next couple of  weeks! I am one happy camper!!!

Newly Remodeled Mario Tricoci (Schaumburg Location)

I was invited to the ribbon cutting event for the newly remodeled Schaumburg location of Mario Tricoci. Anyone who knows me, knows I love Mario Tricoci! I get my colored and hair cut there, I get my eyebrows waxed there, I get massages and facials there, bottom line, they are my go to when I want to get my pamper on. So obviously I was super excited to meet Mario Tricoci! ;) Here is what I wore to the event:

This location has been open for 19 years now and looks even more amazing! I didn't take pictures in the spa area because I felt rude (everyone knows to be quite in there! lol) but I did see a demo for the diamond tip microdurmabrasion. Yeah, mama wants one of those badly! Here are a few photos taken during the ribbon cutting.

Next up, enter a raffle and get my spa on! I was given a complementary wash, blow out, and curling, a bamboo infused massage and my mother-in-law got her nails done. So fun!

How to Wear Red by Mario Tricoci Experts

To get everyone ready for the holiday ahead, I though you'd like to hear some great tips about how to wear red from the experts at Mario Tricoci. Enjoy!

How to Wear Red
Want to add some red to your look for Valentine’s Day? You’re in luck
because red is one of those universally flattering colors -- it’s just
a matter of knowing how to wear it. Try these tips from the experts
at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas if you’re ready to go red:

Hair - We’re not talking Rihanna or Lucille Ball. Today’s hottest
reds are vibrant, but they’re also natural and healthy looking. To be
a beautiful redhead, consult with your colorist to find a shade that
complements your skin tone. Women with light skin look best in copper
and golden reds, while medium skin tones glow with a true red and
darker skin looks radiant with violets and deeper reds. And remember,
the best reds have dimension to them; you want darker tones closer to
the roots and lighter tones at the tips.

Lips - Every woman can find the perfect red lip color. Once again,
the secret is in your skin tone. Lighter, fair, and yellow undertone
skin looks great with an orangey red, while cooler and olive skin
tones can wear more of a range -- from brownish reds to pink-reds. The
right red will brighten your skin when you’re wearing nothing but
foundation, and it won’t make your teeth look yellow. Still not sure?
Go the custom blend route; salons like Mario Tricoci will create a red
for you while you wait. Then top off your look with the right
cosmetics. While some women want to balance a deep red lip with a
dramatic eye, a major trend this year is to go “barely there” with the
rest of your cosmetics to truly make your lips the focal point.

Nails - Red nails are fun and flirty, and there are so many options.
You can go dark, light or frosted, long or short -- red looks great no
matter how it’s worn. For a true red, use Essie’s Forever Young or get
a deep, lacquered red with Limited Addition. If you want a trendy
look, go vibrant and super shiny. But just remember, when you choose a
gorgeous red, make sure you have a good moisturizer like CND Almond
and always carry Solar Oil as a staple in your purse. Just a dab will
give the appearance of a fresh manicure and healthy cuticles. Finally,
want a longer lasting red? Try a No-Chip manicure, which can last up
to two weeks.

Outfit post/New Hair

Top: H&M

It was time for a new look so I went to Mario Tricoci and let my favorite boy/girl (dye/cut) duo do their magic on me! Here is me before:
Photobucket

And here is me after:

Photobucket

I had them take 3 inches off, frame my face up a bit, and add some carmel color under! I'm probably going to go back in the next few months and add some more color and take another inch or 2 off, but this is all my neck could stand! lol It was seriously painful to get this done so soon after surgery!
What do you think? I feel like a new person! I hadn't had anything done cut wise since November 2010 and the last time I had foils was 3 years ago. It was for sure time for an update. Hope you love it as much as I do!
