Winter's Hottest Shoe Trends

Today, I bring you a guest post from Emma of ASOS! We had an amazing summer, but as the autumn weather transitions into winter, we're definitely looking out for the winter shoe trends. Enjoy!Shoes are a vital part of any woman’s wardrobe, as they are the perfect accessory to any outfit. You can instantly alter your outfit depending on the shoes you choose to complete your look. You can add instant dramatization by adding a sassy pair of high heels or go for a casual office look by adding a classic court shoe. Therefore it’s vital to choose the right shoes to compliment your winter wardrobe. So as we surrender to the clamour of the shops, first we must know what this season’s hottest shoe trends are.
Animal motifs have been a huge hit this winter and now we are seeing this trend on our shoes. Pay tribute to our furry little friends and try adding a dash of life to your shoes by incorporating animal print patterns or fur trim. This will instantly add flavor to your outfit, taking an everyday plain outfit to the next level. Reptile skins, as well as leopard prints have stormed our stores, so don’t be afraid to try out this new trend and take a walk on the wild side.

If you admire celebrities like Lady Gaga and Kate Moss and would love to emulate their style, you need to try out the fetish fad. This risqué trend has appeared in stores and if head to toe leather is too much for you, what better try this trend on than your shoes. Aggressive lacing and a vast array of buckles are used on our shoes to bring this trend to life. Whether you choose ankle boots or knee highs, lacing and buckles have featured greatly on boots this winter so make sure you invest in the perfect pair.
Wedges are not only part of your summer wardrobe. This trend has in fact carried on into winter, as we see wedges of all shapes and sizes on our runway. They are understated and elegant compared to the unusual designs of summer and have featured mainly on ankle boots. An alternative to wedges is the chunky heel. This can be that pivotal statement piece you need to complete your outfit. Chunky heels provide a much more secure heel for conditions that the winter weather brings and are ideal for providing extra comfort and stability. More refined than a wedge, they are great to pair with your bulky knits to create the perfect casual winter outfit.
If chunky heels aren’t for you, don’t worry as the sexy, stylish stiletto has also graced our runway. This winter stores have paid tribute to the ladylike chic designs of the 40’s and 60’s bringing back feminine allure. What better to top of an elegant, smart outfit that a pair of striking spike heels. Perfect for the office or perhaps a date, go all out and add a pinch of glamour to your outfit. Try this trend in either a pointed or rounded toe, as both styles are in this season. Remember height, elegance and grace is a look sought after this season so when styling up your pencil skirts and blouses, add a platform to create extra luscious long legs with any heel type.
Heeled loafers have replaced the summer flat loafers and socks in shoes is also a trend for the winter. This trend is admittedly not for everyone and many of us hate the socks in shoes look; yet it is a trend that has appeared in many collections this winter. Pair you favorite heels with a jazzy pair of socks or try a pair of tights if you can’t quite brave this new trend.

Materials that are in fashion this winter are leather, suede, patent and surprisingly satin. Any shoes you buy make sure it is in one of these luxurious materials, whether it’s a charming pair of heels or your new winter boot. Also don’t forget its autumn so remember autumnal colors like burgundy, chocolate, beige, black and dark blue are your best bets for winter.
