Cookie Week 2010- Cookie #1

It's that time of year again, you know, the most wonderful time of the year?! Which means it's time to do some major baking! Every year growing up my mom made the BEST cookies. And so many different kinds, it was amazing! She still makes all of our favorites, and since she's got those kind covered I going to try all new recipes this year!
Look online for grocery coupons and bake up a bunch!
This is the first year in my new kitchen and the first year using my cusinart mixer (which is HEAVEN by the way). I'm taking on 5-7 different kinds and none of them are too fancy.
Since there are more cookie kinds then days of the week until Christmas, I will be posting twice on some days. Check back often to see all my treats!

To kick off cookie week, I will began with the ever popular and ever so great Nestle chocolate chip cookies. You can find the recipe and the back of ANY chocolate chips bag, but here it is anyway:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts

PREHEAT oven to 375° F.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

I don't use nuts in mine, but I'm sure it is super yummy with them too!
